Kaspersky Lab has discovered the first virus designed to infect iPod. It has been named Podloso. It is a concept program that doesn’t pose real threat. Podloso only works if Linux has been installed on the iPod. The virus has to be manually loaded on the iPod by the user and it can’t be launched automatically without user involvement.Once Podloso is launched it scans the hard disk and infects all executable .elf format files. And when any of these files is launched a message is displayed which says “You are infected with Oslo the first iPodLinux Virus”.

Podloso is a proof concept virus, which demonstrates that it is possible to infect a specific platform. It does not have a malicious paylod and can’t spread on its own.

So now in the near Future we’ll see iPod Anti-Virus Wars !!
