Yesterday I told you guys about the competitor of Asus EEE PC from HP and as I told you that this market has a lot of potential and many companies are soon going to come up to challenge the EEE PC and here I present to you another competitor of EEE PC from none other but the PC and laptop manufacturing giant Dell. Dell is soon going to enter the sub-notebook market with an 8.9” Compal Manufactured Sub-Notebooks. Sources say that Dell is going to start shipping this laptop from early June.
The launch of Dell’s Sub Notebook will also coincide with the availability of Intel Atom Processors which are specialized mobile processors and have TDP as low as 8W.The Founder and CEO of Dell, Michael Dell when asked a question about HP’s recently announced 2133 Mini-Note said “We will introduce a similar laptop”.
Dell will have to face stiff competition in the market by the time it launches it notebook in June from Asus Eee PC 900 and HP 2133.

With Blu-ray reaching the higher end laptops, Dell is quite serious about making Blu-ray available in its laptops. Recently, Dell launched its Inspiron 1525 with in built Blu-ray for just $879. The notebook comes with a Blu-ray combo drive and most of the other specsremain the same. These include a Core2Duo T5550 processor (1.83Ghz), a 15″ screen and a HDMI port. Other features which are not so fancy include 1GB RAM, a 80GB HDD and a GMA X3100 graphics accelerator. The notebook might upset those who run resource hungry applications or any gaming freak but considering the face that it offers inbuilt Blu-ray just for $879, it’s a bang for your buck. So if you are a download junkie and always run out of space, just go ahead and grab it.

Dell E228WFPC is no contender for design awards, yet with its competitive prices ($300) and graphics features this 22” monitor would add solid value in a office setting delivering high quality text and graphics.
The monitor passed the jury’s scrutiny without much of a problem. Text and graphics on Word and excel applications were quite clear and sharp. Common web page graphics such images of a group of people or an image of a colorful fruit passed with flying colors! Brilliant were the colors on the object and realistic skin tones on people’s faces & limbs.
This model too had a boomerang shaped stand like many Dell monitors. The stand had a hole inside to pull wires through and save on the wire clutter. The hole was a little too narrow though.

Dell apparently is all set to go totally green, carbon neutral, by the year 2008. Mr. Dell himself pledged that. There’s been a lot of fuss over sometime past about this Ozone layer thing and its rising to a crescendo recently. Everybody is eager to lend their acoustic power to the whole thing!
What Mr. Dell said and apparently big boys are paying attention is “ There’s been a time in history of business where it’s more important for organizations of all sizes to partner together to positively impact the Earth that we all share… It’s not enough for Dell to be an environmental leader. We also need to partner with our customers … to dramatically improve our own customers’ environmental impacts”
Dell plans to create more energy efficient products and will utilize other energy efficient sources during production. Those measures seem a bit ambiguous to us—let’s see a completely biodegradable laptop made from nothing but recycled toilet rolls, then we would be impressed. Very, very impressed.
