Things could not get worse for AMD. They have been suffering heavy and I mean very big Heavy losses in every quarter after the release of Core 2 Duo’s from Intel. Earlier this week we had reported that AMD will cut 10% of its workforce to help them to improve their financial condition and now AMD’s Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President Phil Hester has resigned from AMD. Hester was responsible for setting the architectural and product strategies and plans for AMD’s microprocessor business. AMD has also removed Phil Hester bio from their official website.
Hester said he is wishing to pursue other career opportunities and surprisingly AMD says there will be no replacement for Phil Hester CTO position. Phil Hester’s resignation could not have come at any other worst moment. AMD has recently released B3 revision Opterons which are free from the TLB bug which plagued older Phenom’s. AMD is hoping to release Phenom based 65nm processor running at 2.6Ghz by the end of this year and if everything is according to schedule then by next year within Q1 we will see 45nm based Shanghai processors in the market. AMD is yet to release its Q1 2008 earning, but the company has issued guidance saying that its Q1 earning will be 15% less compared to Q1 of last year.
