The kindle can do a remarkable job of replacing a book. It weighs only about 10 ounces and the display of text is on a 6 inch diognal screen. The diplay is passive and produces no light. Therefore charging the kindle for about two hours would give the user a reading time of about thirty hours. (Man oh man 30 hours of display!! )
