The free software foundations have now released GPL for various web services. The free software foundations have now published a new open source software license that is aimed at developers whose codes are used for softwares as service or the SaaS applications. This license is called the GNU afro general public license.
This license is based on the third version of the GNU GPL. The GNU GPL now mandates that those developers that build applications from modifying the source codes or those developers that make new applications by modifying the source code of already existing applications can also release these newly developed applications. This however does not typically cover SaaS applications. The new Affro GPLV3 now incorporates and additional clause which will now require the source code to be distributed to the users when the applications is offered as a network service. This is extremely helpful as many companies use customized open source software to run their online applications. These companies however have no obligation to distribute the changes to their users. This new policy would help many companies and the software developers to have better relationship with each other and also help in further creation of new software.
