IOGear Wireless USB Hub

IOGear Wireless USB Hub. Unquestionably, wireless USB technology has a lot of potential. Difficult to say this device lives up to that. Wireless hub should not only remove wire clutter but give one fast transfers. USB 2.0 transfres are actually faster than achieved through the wireless set up.

Using the wireless hub is claimed to be as easy as connecting the antenna dongle, plugging in the hub and connecting devices to the hub on its USB ports. One needed to install separate drivers for the hub as well as the antenna. Hub then was to be associated with the PC through an authentication process and using a custom communication piece to communicate with the hub. Hub had quite a problem with the RF signal even when sitting a foot away from the antenna!

After my earlier article on how to install Mac OSX Leopard on a PC. I was thinking about those fellows who can’t download or install the Leopard on their PC, so I requested my friend designer kid to help me write something for my readers to give their desktop an Ultimate Mac OS X Leopard Transformation!

Download Leopard Transformation Pack

Mirror:
One
(Megaupload.com)

Two (TinyUpload.com)

Update:
1. Due to exceeding downloads and bandwidth, I had to transfer the files to an external server.
2. Mac OS X Cursor Pack updated.

I thought of downloading the complete pack won’t be easy for those unlucky fellows on dial-up connection, so I am adding links to individual Parts of the Ultimate Mac OS X Leopard Transformation Pack.

Windows Default Convert From This To This Leopard Patched

So here we begin as the the main feature of OS X are the Login Screen, the Dock bar etc. So first of all we will add a dock menu and start the process which transforms “Windows XP OS” into a “MAC OS X”. (more…)

Nokia N810

As we had hinted earlier, the Linux-based Nokia N810 internet tablet is now official. This palm sized PC connects to the Internet via wi-fi and can have a Bluetooth connection with a cellphone. The slide out keyboard is a highly desirable option and can give the iPod touch some run for money.

GPS navigation is built in and the unit comes loaded with maps to let you go to any particular point of interest. 2 GB internal storage is available, but with a 10 GB memory card stuck init could carry some serious amount of music. You could carry your videos, if you prefer and view them on the 4.13 inch screen at 800×480 touch-screen. Though that is not an improvement over the earlier N800 model, it does improve in terms of a 20% brighter screen and a 400 MHz processor. Looks like a pretty attractive deal at $479, ships in November.

Creative Zen V Plus

Creative’s latest release Zen V and Zen V Plus, addition to their flash based line pose serious threat to Apple’s iPod nano. They come with 2GB memory and the Plus version at$170 is going to give Nano line a good run for the money.

Variations on these two models include music memory of 1,2 or 4 GB capabilities. They also include a voice recorder, line in jack and a organic LED display, 1.5”. While the display is pretty good at indoor viewing is not all that great outdoors. Both lines play content from Plays For Sure subscription service and handles the standard complement of MP3, WMA and Audible file. Only the plus version plays video too.

These players have impressive sound quality as the tests with the PC World proved. These devices ranked slightly worse than the IPod Nano and Creative’s Zen Nano Plus but was within striking distance. Cross talk score were the best. A variety of high bit rate MP3 files played great with all kinds of tweaking through a 5 band equalizer during my listening tests. Creative does seem to be maintaining their audio standards!

Wii Not So Cheap

Wii wannabes hoping for a dip in its pricing for the coming holiday season may have to wait a while longer. A drop from the current $249 retail price in the Us territory is not going to happen very soon. George Harrison, chief of marketing in US cited strong demand for Wii as the reason in an interview with Reuters recently.

Nintendo is likely to keep the price steady at that $250 level, he continued, as Nintendo is in an excellent position even after its competitors Sony( NYSE:SNE) and Microsoft(Nasdaq: MSFT) did some aggressive price cuts on their consoles failed to stall Nintendo’s momentum.

Even as its competitors shuffle their prices to gain market share and push sales in the upcoming holiday season, Nintendo is going to be on the same price on its hot selling consoles. There’s no reason not to. It is the hottest selling gaming console, cheaper that it two major competitors and is widely under supplied in the US.

Motorola Gold Razr2

Finally Motorola is riding on the success of its most popular cell phone the Razr by introducing a special edition of the new Razr 2. The Razr 2 V8 Luxury Edition is 18K gold-plated and covered in snake-like skin. For that extra luxurious look and feel, Motorola also added a diamond-cut pattern on the phone’s surface.

Besides the glamour, the Razr 2 comes with CrystalTalk technology, Windows Media Player, a 2.0 megapixel camera, and Opera Software’s mobile browser version 8.5.

Stylish mobile phones as a fashion accessory have been growing in popularity, so Motorola is not the first to come up with the concept. Earlier this year, LG Electronics and fashion house Prada Group unveiled the Prada Phone, which has metallic black casing, touch-screen technology similar to the iPhone, and a $780 price tag. Nokia in August came out with its diamond-cut phone called the Nokia 7900 Prism, featuring cutting-edge colors, materials, and graphics. Nokia sells other luxury mobile devices in its flagship stores, which are typically kept separately behind a glass display.

Remove Pimples With This Music Player

Did you ever worry about the state of the pimples you own on your face while listening to music ! Even if you did, you need to no worry anymore. Here’s a MP3 player from the land of the rising sun (lol Japan) that can cure all those pimples while you listen to the music of your choice.

The music storage capacity is only 128 KB of flash and no display either. But why worry you are getting cured of your skin blemishes as a bargain. The manufacturers claim they have something special under the bonnet that helps with the cure. Ionization or is it vacuum method that it uses, you could only guess, the manufacturers aren’t telling though.

Not a bad trend at all when gadget makers are not only worried about the state of your ears but also other health issues too!!! What would they come up with next, I am just shaking with excitement! Players that brush my teeth, mobiles that wipe my mouth after meals and may be even a replacement for the toilet roll! That’ll be the day.

Sony’s Next E-Book Reader

A new version of the Sony Ready Digital Book, an e-Book reader, is out in the market. Control button layout and easier navigational tools and a display that has better contrast are the attractions. New colors such as silver and dark blue are available too rather than just black of older version. This unit is thinner and has a better response time while flipping pages. Price though remains almost at the older level of $300 (about $50 less than the original price of, course).
