nVidia’s Linkboost Technology
Tagged Under : nVidia
Last Year nVidia released there not so successful chipset 590 series for Intel Core 2 Duo Series of Lineup. The chipset was a very poor overclocker but had many new features and one of them was nVidia’s Linkboost technology. In this technology if the motherboard finds 2 7900GTX, then the frequency of both graphic interfaces is automatically set from default 100 MHz to 125 MHz, and simultaneously the frequency of system bus HT between chipset bridges increases from 200 to 250 MHz. This solution ensures a increase in the capacity by 25% (theoretically) and it can give a certain performance gain.
Later On when nVidia Launched the successful 6xx series of chipset for Core 2 Duo the linkboost technology was compatible with only the 8800GTX and GTS series of cards but surprisingly in the last BIOS revision for such motherboards the option dissappeared.
Later On when nVidia Launched the 650 series of mobo then it was found that another method was used for increasing the performace of the video cards of geforce series Instead of raising the frequency PCI-E frequency in nForce 650 Ultra will be realized an automatic increase in the graphic chip clock frequency . At present in the number of supported graphic card are the GeForce 7300 GT and GS, but soon to them will be added other video accelerators.
Most likely, the discussion deals with overclock in range from 7 to 10% (Safe Range)
